Hola chicos!!

This week was super good! Full of food and spiritual stuff. I gave a talk in church in Spanish (obvi but yeah) and it went well!! We had a fashion show with our stake and we had a runway thing going on and it was SO MUCH FUN! I accidently ate cow liver and liked it jaja. It's officially winter which means rainy season... we were at the bottom of this hill one day and it started pouring... long story short, the road literally turned into a RUSHING RIVER and I am not exaggerating jajaja!! I LOVE the rain though so its good (picture below). Also I ate SO MUCH SHRIMP. FYI: shrimp pupusas are amazinggggg. We also went to a lake today which was gorgeous!!

Rain Protocol: when it rains it POURS and there's lots of lighting and thunder. you NEED an umbrella. garbage bags work well to protect scriptures. if it's raining you are probably stuck where you are for a while, so make sure you are inside. if it looks like rain make sure you bring in the clothes from the clothesline lol

Companion Corner: Hna Lopez is so cute, this week we taught her how to say rainbow and pillow in english. She's adorable. Hna Martinez kills me lol she is always taking pictures and making vlogs, catch us on our YouTube channel jaja

We also had some awesome lessons this week and a lot of spiritual highs. I love being able to study the gospel everyday and share my testimony of Christ. We talked about as we seek divine light in our lives we are preparing to live with our Heavenly Father! When we hear His words we gain this divine light that will guide us back to Him. I love the scripture in Alma 19:6. It talks about the conversion of King Lamoni. It says,

"The dark veil of unbelief was...cast away from his mind, and the light...did light up his mind, which was the light of the glory of God, which was a marvelous light of his goodness—yea, this light had infused such joy into his soul, the cloud of darkness having been dispelled, and...the light of everlasting life...lit up in his soul"

"¡¡El Pan!!" *Bopa Bopa*

Holis!!!

  The subject is a reference to the guys who sell bread in the street, they honk their little horn and thats how you know its the bread sellers jaja! Hermana Martínez, López, and I make the sound all the time lol... you had to be there, sorry XD

Imagine this, me and my companions walk down a cement slop into the front patio/jungle of an investigator. We all sit down on plastic stools and as we are going through introductions all of a sudden my companion starts profusely bleeding out of her nose!! Jaja! Ohmyheck! ¡Qué loco! The ladies there gave a handful of tissues and wipes and after about 30 min. it finally stopped. :D

This week was pretty eventful, we ate whole fish (lips to tail) the size of my arm!! We had a minute-to-win-it activity with our ward which was SO fun!! We ate lots of pan dulce :)) We invited our friend Eunice to be baptized and she accepted!! And I accidentally went to an Evangelica funeral...all in all it was a good week!!

Fun Facts About El Sal: We say hi to everyone, and everyone expects you to! It's considered rude if you don't say hi to someone as you pass them in the street. So we wave, shout "buenas" or "hola" to everyone, even the drunk guys that sit out :) Also along with that that's how we street contact/knock doors. Everyone keeps their doors open because it's so hottttttttt (it's so hottttt!!!!!!) so you just walk up to a door and yell "buenas!!" and then people come! Usually they are surprised to see missionaries but people are pretty nice generally. Speaking of people being nice, there's this lady who is a seamstress that we pass by sometimes and talk to. She gave me a skirt she made for FREE! What?! Shout out to Hermana Vilma, a queen.

I'm gonna give a talk on it this Sunday and I get to píck my topic! I think I am going to base part of it off of this scripture I found this week in my personal study. I absolutely love it!! It's in Jeremiah 18:6 and it says, "O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel." I love ceramics! I think about the process of creating a piece of pottery and a master potter knows when to apply pressure, when to stretch the clay, and when to cut off pieces that aren't needed. That is how the Lord is with us. He is the Master Potter and we are in His hands. The only difference is that we need to LET Him shape us by centering our lives on Christ and LIVING His gospel. When we do He can create something beautiful out of us. Right now I feel the pressure. I am being stretched. And He is helping me cut away bad habits so I can become something better. Those are some things I've been thinking a lot about. What am I becoming, and where is my foundation? But it also gives me a lot of peace to know that we are in the Lord's hands and He will be with us through it all.

Its a Love/Hate Relationship

Hola hola!!

the good news: 

we have some awesome family home evenings this week with the members in the ward!! ohmyheck i love them!! they are all so nice and i love spending time with them!! we also ate some yummy food this week, celebrated Hna Ruano´s birthday, and have been working hard to find new people to teach... because there aren't many people right now...

In regards to the subject line: THE FOOD. OHMYHECK. It has a tendency to hurt my stomach but i like it sooooo asi es...

This week felt like actually 12 years long ohmyheck. This was probably the hardest week of mission :)) but you know there are still lots of things to be grateful for, and there is always something positive, I´m adjusting still. But i know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are there for me. I know that this gospel is true, and I feel the spirit when I get to testify of Them.

I hope you all have a great week, sorry this letter is pretty crappy haha buttt i love you allllll a lot!!

The Lizards Are Good For the Bugs

Holis!!

Okay homies, this week was crazyyyy!! Wow!! But awesome!!

- I got my niña!!! Hermana Martinez!!! Me and Hermana Lopez and having a fun time training her, she's a princess :))

- We had a baptism this week for our friend Camila!!! She just turned 9, it was a good day!!

- I think I got heat exhaustion yesterday, I felt super sick and crashed, but a POSITIVE thing from yesterday!! I FINALLY FINISHED THE BOOK OF MORMON IN SPANISH!!! After 14 mo. as a missionary, WHOOT WHOOT!!

A story I wanted to share:

There is a lady in our ward who is old. She can't come in person to church but we go and visit her and study the Book of Mormon together :)) She is pretty deaf, and can't see really well but when we come over she gets out her large print Libro de Mormon and straps a camping headlamp to her forehead to read with us. As I almost shout the verses as I read I can't help but think of how amazing it is that despite all her excuses this hermana still reads her scriptures!! It makes me think of the scripture in 2 Nefi, "feast upon the words of Christ..., the words of Christ will tell you all things that ye should do".
