This week was weird haha, but it was good.

We had some AWESOME lessons about the Book of Mormon with our friends AND we met with some really cool new friends!! What?! It's been awesome :)) we did have to go down to Santa Rosa this week so Wednesday and Thursday we were road tripping, that's what made the week weird.

Last night we got an urgent text from the elders! They asked if we were meeting with one of the families in our ward. They said they had talked to the son and he said we were supposed to come over too! For a second we thought there was some big miscommunication and we were supposed to have a lesson we didn't know about! Turns out, the elders just wanted to borrow Settlers of Catan from this family and wanted us to go pick it up. Apparently they woke up at an atrociously early hour to play it with the 6 other elders in their apartment this morning. This is all you need to know about the elders.

Today I was reading in Moroni 7 and the last verse really stuck out to me. It says, "pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart...that ye may become the sons [and daughters] of God; that when he shall appear WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be PURIFIED even as he is pure. Amen." I love the way Moroni states our goal, our goal is to become like Christ! In Alma 5:19 Alma asks, "Can ye look up, having the image of God engraved upon your countenances?". To me that means to act like the Savior in our behavior, and for us to be a reflection of the Master's life. Can I look up and say that I am? No pressure right? Be like Jesus. Okay. But the Lord knows we aren't going to be perfect and He knows we can not do it on our own. We're not supposed to. In Moroni 7:41 I feel comfort when it says, "Behold I say unto you that ye shall have HOPE through the ATONEMENT OF CHRIST and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your FAITH IN HIM according to the PROMISE". Jesus Christ promises us healing, hope, and change through His Atonement. He promises forgiveness, love, and peace. He covers it all and there is hope for all of us! We are each still a work in progress and as we act in faith to become like the Savior we will be able to be purified through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and receive eternal life.

Cool Lessons!!!:
We had a cool lesson with Kai this week too! We had a mango smoothie picnic outside and we talked about baptism with him and figured out his thoughts. It went really well and I'm really excited for him!

WE HAD A LESSON WITH MARCO YESTERDAY! We called and he told us he couldn't come to church but that he wanted to meet (we haven't met for 3 weeks!) It went so good! Hna. Hampy doesn't speak spanish so it was all me haha but the Spirit carried that lesson! Marco said he would read the Book of Mormon every day :)))

Spiritual Thought:

This week my spiritual thought is a talk suggestion, it's SUCH a good talk and my words can't do it justice.  The talk is "Infuriating Unfairness" by Elder Renlund. It says, "The Savior lives. He understands unfairness. The marks in the palms of His hands continually remind Him of YOU and YOUR circumstances. He ministers to you in ALL your distress. For those who come unto Him, a crown of beauty will replace the ashes of mourning; joy and gladness will replace grief and sorrow; appreciation and celebration will replace discouragement and despair."

Have You Ever Driven the Wrong Way Down a One Way Street?

Hola a todos! Cómo están? 

Pues this week was good! We had exchanges and I got to go to Eureka with Sister Soultz :) we made homemade lasagna, got street strawberries, and got to have a lesson with some Spanish speaking members!!! It was so much fun!

Me and Hermana Hampton worked super hard this week... our two friends that have accepted a baptismal date are dodging us... so that's been hard. But our friends Lenny and Barbara came to church, and we had an awesome lesson with Carole before she left on her trip!

We gifted a hard cover Book of Mormon to Carole, talked about the importance of it, and read the introduction. We told her that while she is gone we are going to read it with her! She's so cute, she said "well I guess I can pray all I want but if I want to know it's true I guess I'd better read it"! Truer words were never spoken. Haha!

Something I've been studying lately is faith. One thing I loved from General Conference was when President Nelson said, "stop rehearsing your doubts with other doubters". One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is Mormon 9:27. One part of it says "Doubt not, but be believing". Like Carole said, we have to read it and trust in the Spirit to guide us! When we look for proof without faith then it will be very hard for us to find, but when we seek with faith in Jesus Christ then God will be able to open our eyes and hearts and we will be able to learn more. 

One of the primary girls in our ward said, "when you stand in holy places it makes it so Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ can get to us!" When we have faith and act on it we can make where we are a holy place and we can continue to grow our testimonies. I think if there was a pie chart for "What We Need To Learn In Life" a big slice of it would be "Have Faith and Trust In Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ", and that means that we need to "doubt not, but be believing" and then Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will be able to "get to us".

(Sorry that was an excessive amount of quotes in two paragraphs haha sorry)

Working Title

Dang yeah... these past two weeks have been insane.

We put two of our friends on date to be baptized!!!! Please please please pray for Marco and Allen!!!!

We had transfers, so me and Sister Hampton dropped off Sister Riley in Santa Rosa and back in one day, that's about 9 hours folks :P 

So now I'm in a duo again!! And this duo had the crazy hardest week I've had in my mission haha. We had tons of lessons this past week, one day we ended up driving 900 miles, and we got totally wreaked for a few days because we got the vaccine and those side effects were brutal (still recovering) but even though it was a hard week saw so many miracles. I know God's hand is in His work and it's in our lives.

Something I was studying this week that I thought was really cool is the connection between these verses in the Book of Mormon. In Mormon 5:18 (I'm gonna make you look it up) it compares us to a ship and it explains how we fare when we are led by Satan. We are tossed in the sea without sails, an anchor, or any way to steer. We are lost.

This analogy reminds me of the people of the Brother of Jared in the book of Ether. They literally were in ships trying to get to the promised land. But unlike the scripture in Mormon, they had the Lord as their guide. They trusted in Him and had hope and faith that He would direct their paths. Honestly that would take a lot of faith! In Ether 12:4 it says, "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God."

When we trust in God and let Him be our guide by following the example of Jesus Christ, by being submissive, humble, and willing to do what He asks, we will not be left without sails, or a way to steer. We will have our lives anchored in our faith in Christ and we know that when we build upon His rock we will never fall. Even though the storms will come they will have no power over us because of our foundation, Jesus Christ.

I love my Savior and I'm grateful to have Him as my foundation. I'm grateful for the knowledge that He did it all and that even when we have storms in our lives beating on us He has the power to comfort us and to give us the strength to get through.
