Going to California - Led Zeppelin

HOOOOOLLLLAAAAAA!

wow! this week zooommmed by (literally ;)). some super cool things happened though!

first of all, i got to meet my amazing companion hermana wheeler IN REAL LIFE! her personality is yellow, her sense of humor is impeccable, and our mutual love of bread and the gospel makes us a pretty good team. haha! we got to meet up at her house and while we were there we made a super cool video together that is on facebook so like, comment, and share ;)

second, i got my temporary reassignment!! i am going to the California Santa Rosa Mission on july 14!!! i will leave the day i finish the CCM, and i am seriously so stoked to go to California!! my mission is basically the whole northern coast of california from san franciscoish to oregon. three elders from my CCM district (elder young, elder sainsbury, and elder wagner), and hermana blatter (from my district)’s twin brother are ALL going to my mission. it’ll be cool to see most of them at least on the flight over!

third, i have been thinking a lot this week about the covenants we make when we are baptized. one thing i have focused on is our promise to take the name of Christ upon us. in mosiah 5:12-13 it says,

"I say unto you, I would that ye should remember to retain the name written always in your hearts, that ye are not found on the left hand of God, but that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called, and also, the name by which he shall call you. For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?

right now is an awesome time for me to literally have Christ’s name over my heart on a name tag, but it is so much more important that we have His name always written on our hearts. when we take His name upon us we begin a journey of discipleship. come unto Christ, put your faith and trust in Him and then ACT. we are His hands!!

love you and i know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you too! trust in them, serve them, and have a great week!

"Sometimes I Start a Sentence and I Don't Even Know Where it's Going, I Just Hope I Find it Along the wWy" - Michael Scott

HOLA TODOS!

this week has been great! there has been lots of spanish and lots and lots of teaching… this email's subject basically has been my life for a while haha! I’ve realized that online TRC’s (where we role-play teaching people) are like the movie a quiet place. you don’t make any sound or the screen with switch to you and then you’re dead (aka you have to say something). haha! but honestly it’s been so cool to realize that even though i’m stumbling through a sentence in spanish Heavenly Father gives me the words as i need them, I just need to be putting in the work and doing my part.

AWESOME UPDATE: I SAID MY FIRST PRAYER IN SPANISH ALL BY MYSELF LAST WEEK! WHOOT WHOOT!!!

learning all over again how to say a prayer made me think about a lot of things. i realized how precious and amazing it is for us to be able to communicate with our Heavenly Father! i think i realized this even more when i had to rack my brain for the words i wanted to say in spanish. learning how to pray also made me remember a quote i was given when i was a beehive written by corrie ten boom (shout out to cheree dawson for being an amazing beehive advisor!!). she says “is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?”. this question is an awesome life check. do we realize and value how precious our prayers are? I think it’s always a good reminder to make sure we have having “mighty prayers”! but seriously the best part about prayer is that HE REALLY LISTENS. He gives us strength when we are falling short, comfort when we feel alone, and He blesses us every. single. day.

I was listening to a song this week (only gospel music so if you have any good songs send them my way ;)) and it had a line that was so powerful to me! it said, “how could we hope to see His face, who never could see His hand?”. look for God’s tender mercies in your life every. single. day. like nefi says, “the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith” (1 nefi 1:20)

I know God loves us and listens to our prayers! have a great week! hasta luego!

What is 2 Feet? (The Distance I Traveled to the MTC)

¡buenos días!

week one down of online mtc and it’s been awesome!

after the first day my brain felt like pudding so that helped me sleep really well. :) i know everyone says it, but you learn SO much every day! it’s crazy. I have two three hour long classes each day (6 hours total of class). classes are half gospel and half español. sometimes we have workshops or devotionals just like the normal mtc. i have a companion like normal too, her name is hermana wheeler and she is from tooele utah! we get along really well. she is theee coolest and i adore her! it’s been really exciting to learn and to stretch myself haha!

one spiritual thought that i came across in my personal study this week was from elder uchtdorf’s talk “missionary work: sharking what is in your heart”. here is a quote from it that i absolutely loved!

“walking the path of discipleship takes practice— each day, little by little, “grace for grace”, “line upon line.” sometimes two steps forward and one step back. the important thing is that you don’t give up”

none of us are perfect. we all make mistakes. but that is what the Atonement of Jesus Christ is there for! rely on Him, trust in Him, and keep going! it can be hard today but “know in whom [you] have trusted” (2 nefi 4:19). we can do all things through Christ!! i testify that the gospel is true and i am so grateful for it and for my Savior.

i love you all! have a great week!
