Queridos hermanos y hermanas, bienvenidos ;)

Yay this week was fun! We made a ton of cookies for our friends (shout out to Christie's cookie recipe!!), we had our first in person district council of the transfer, we had some awesome member lessons! Hermana Sandoval and I took some great vlogs of us scaring the elders and teaching the Restoration Tik Tok style rapid spanish jaja, and we got to have a some super good lessons with Angel and Heisomber, and César and Homeboy Fernando (a recent convert who joined us for our lesson with César and who is thee coolest)!!!

All in all a pretty great week! I've been reading in Alma chapters 28-33, so many good things in there!! One thing I loved was in chapter 30 verse 8, it's a super short scripture that says "Choose ye this day, whom ye will serve". Each day we need to be continually choosing to serve God. Each day we need to consciously choose to change (say that 10 times fast) and be more like Christ. Something else I found in this chapter was that Korihor, the Anti-Christ, was teaching the people that they were foolish for yolking themselves to religion. He tells them that it is tying them down. Just a lot of rules that ruin everything. A lot of times people see the commandments in that way, but in reality we aren't tying ourselves down, we are tying ourselves TO Jesus Christ! When we tie ourselves to Him, I think of two oxen yoked together, He makes it possible to bear the burdens of this life and to keep moving forward. When we are stuck in life or falling, I think of rock climbing with a harness, He pulls us up and helps us through our difficult times. He is the one who makes it possible for us to be forgiven and experience joy! True joy comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we yoke or tie ourselves to Him we can overcome any challenge and we can become better each day as we choose to serve and follow Him.

Strawberries, Sunshine, and Silver Linings

Hola hola a todos!

WHATTHEHECK this week was awesome! Okay, highlights:

- some of the elders made us a chocolate cake because we helped them with their Facebook page :) this is why we help people.

- me and Hermana Sandoval got to go downtown and we went thrifting!!! Didn't buy anything but the antique stores here are SO COOL!

- we had a lesson with our friend Anita FINALLYYY! She's awesome!

- we had so many miracles happen to get in contact with people and some really good lessons!

- we found out one of our friends that we're teaching actually lives in our area!!!!!! SO AWESOME!!! we had the wrong direction for him so we thought he lived in California City haha! AND WE GOT TO MEET HIM IN PERSON and he's SO COOL!! And he has a son and they both want to learn more and I love them so mucho!

- I learned how to make pupusas from Hermana Xiomara, who's from Honduras! Pupusas are a STAPLE in El Salvador and I ate and made them for the first time in the same day :) Basically I feel like a pro.

Obviously I tell you guys all the cool stuff that happens so don't be fooled and think my days are all sunshine and easy (it's actually been cloudy in Woodland lately;)). The important thing is to look for the positives and to be the positive in people's lives! 

In my studies I found a cool scripture that I had never noticed before in Alma 25:17. It is talking about how Aaron and his brothers finally were able to see success in their missionary work literally after years of no success. It says, "the Lord had granted unto them according to their prayers, and that he had also verified his word unto them in every particular." I love how it says that he verified or confirmed his word in every particular. Sometimes it takes a long time to see our prayers answered but we can be like Aaron and his brothers. They were patient, faithful, and cheerful through it all, and God answered their prayers and kept all His promises to them. 

This is just like us, God doesn't always answer our prayers in our time but He always answers and always keeps His promises. I know He does. Though the process can be hard I've found that by trusting in God I have been able to find so much joy in my life in the growing moments. Just like President Nelson has said, "it's better to count your blessings then to recount your problems" because when we start counting the blessings and miracles in our lives we can see there is so much good and light to be had!! Today I just invite you to be the positive light in someone else's life and to start counting the miracles or tender mercies from God each day. I promise you will be able to be strengthened by the Savior as you live joyfully and look for His hand, He will keep His promises and verify His word in every particular. :)

Hola hola a todos!!

This week was pretty chill, we have been having a lot more phone call lessons :) kinda funny because Hermana Sandoval and I are pretty sure that people can't tell the difference between our voices over the phone! But we've been having lots of at home time...

Here are some fun things that spiced it up:

- We made banana bread and it was SO GOOD!!! John 6:35

- We got a disco lamp in our apartment!!

- I had abuelita hot chocolate for the first time SO YUMMY!!!

- We randomly learned the word for Shire in language study haha!

- We had some awesome lessons with our friend Angel over the phone and he's progressing so well!

- We got to have dinner with some of my favorite members last night! They have a son named Abinadi and he dressed up as Spiderman and was our live entertainment;)

One really cool scripture I read this week is Alma 19:6, it's about the conversion of King Lamoni. The part I liked says, "the dark veil of unbelief was being cast away from his mind, and the light which did light up his mind, which was the light of the glory of God, which was a marvelous light of his goodness—yea, this light had infused such joy into his soul, the cloud of darkness having been dispelled, and that the light of everlasting life was lit up in his soul"! 

This week we got to teach and focus a lot on the Plan of Salvation. God's plan for us really is about having joy and learning! We got to teach to Angel and it went so well! I could see the joy that I brought to him; the clarity and purpose and LIGHT! Right now is kind of a crazy time in a lot of people's lives, so I invite you all to let in the light of the gospel a little more and seek out the light of Jesus Christ. When we do this we can better see things from an eternal perspective and we can truly feel the LOVE, PEACE, and JOY that God is wanting to bless us with!

The Dynamic Duo

Qué tal y'all? :)

I hope you all are doing so so good! This week was super busy but awesome! I got a new companion! Her name is Hermana Sandoval and she is thee best! We get along really well and she is so funny! Also her spanish is awesome and she is a great teacher. What more could I ask for haha! It's going to be an awesome transfer!

Funny story from this week though, for New Years the Garcia-Cervantes Family gave us dinner to go, and thank goodness it was to go! Haha! The second we walked in and  Hermana Sandoval saw the food she bumped me...it was shrimp, crab, and clams! She had just told me that day how much seafood makes her sick and I was dying laughing hahaha! We both told Hermana Cervantes thank you and how excited we  were (well one of us was ;)) to try her food! Let's just say I had plenty of shrimp those next few days mmmm SO GOOD!

My spiritual thought from this week is about prayer. I love what it says about prayer in the Bible Dictionary (I LOVE the Bible Dictionary), it says,

"As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are His children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part. Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings."
